Entrepreneurship Sharing with Pak Hari Tjahjono

I had the opportunity to meet with Pak Hari Tjahjono. He has successfully built Abyor, one of the most prominent SAP consultant companies in Indonesia. He shared some of his journey in building the company.

#1 Sales Strategy

Early in the business, Abyor targeted one major BUMN to become its customers. He knew it would provide a reputation because other BUMNs often refer to them in technology implementation. Long story short they won the customer and the rest is history.

#2 HR Strategy

I was surprised to know that Abyor mostly hired senior and junior consultants, not the middle ones. Pak Hari explained that the seniors would train and supervise the juniors, the juniors were bound by a multi-year contract to ensure commitment. This was possible because many people were interested in learning SAP at that time.

#3 Digital Marketing

I asked Pak Hari in how to acquire new customers. Pak Hari advised using digital marketing by posting articles relevant to the products, then letting people access the content through digital media, i.e. Google search. Digital marketing will provide us with continuous leads. Pak Hari warned that digital marketing is not easy and needs dedicated person / team.
